Mammoet Moving the Kiruna Church in North Sweden Starts Today

For two days in August 2025, Kiruna Church will be moved to its new location, and the public is invited to follow this historic moment through the event The Great Church Walk.

To ensure a memorable experience, special locations along the moving route have been designated where visitors can follow the church’s movement live. In parallel, an extensive stage program is being arranged on the City Hall Square, where the entire move will be shown on a large screen. The program on the main stage will feature interviews with experts, reflections on the church’s history and significance, as well as musical performances and other entertainment. The event on the City Hall Square will take place over both days, with preliminary times between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Everything is open and free to visitors.
