Boskalis Vessels Deliver and Position for Anchoring SBM Offshore’s FPSO One Guyana

Photographs such as these have been a regular feature in recent months. Even so they remain a stunning sight with three of Boskalis’ powerful oceangoing tugs towing the brand new FPSO One Guyana for Boskalis’ client SBM Offshore towards South America. Previous FPSO deliveries have been towards Brazil in the recent past, this time the Guyanan sector was their final destination.

Earlier this year, the BOKA Centre, BOKA Striker and BOKA Guard connected themselves with long tow wires to the FPSO One Guyana. They sailed with the cargo to Walvis Bay in Namibia, where the BOKA Centre and BOKA Guard were relieved by the BOKA Sweeper and BOKA Keeper. Together with the BOKA Striker, the three of them transported the 324m long FPSO to the Stabroek Block, some 200 kilometers off the coast of Guyana.

Immediately upon arrival in the Stabroek Block in the Guyanan sector, the FPSO was moored in place. During this operation, the 3 vessels from the Boskalis fleet were joined by a fourth vessel, the AHT vessel, BOKA Fulmar, to assist with station keeping. And so Boskalis vessels not only transported this huge cargo from Asia to South America, but also delivered it on a silver platter by keeping the FPSO perfectly in position while each of the mooring lines was connected.

Boskalis thanks the crews of the six vessels involved for their hard work and dedication during this project and wish them every success with the next groundbreaking transport.
