Franz Bracht Kran-Vermietung GmbH Collects New LTM 1750-9.1 at Liebherr in Ehingen

Franz Bracht Kran-Vermietung GmbH has taken delivery of an LTM 1750-9.1 from Liebherr.

It is the second mobile crane of this type in the Bracht group’s fleet.

The first crane – sporting the blue corporate colour of Hofmann Kran-Vermietung GmbH & Co. KG – has been in operation for 10 years. The excellent experience with the 800t crane from Liebherr and the superb utilisation in the large crane sector prompted Managing Director Dirk Bracht to invest in another model of this type.

“The LTM 1750-9.1 has proven its abilities within our group for a decade. So we decided to acquire another crane just like it. It’s a sound decision. The new model will replace an AC 700 in our fleet”, explains Bracht. “We are planning to use it for a wide range of jobs in our day-to-day business.” This includes the assembly of bridges and concrete supports, industrial jobs, heavy load handling and service work on wind turbines, as well as the installation of wind turbines. “Our large cranes are fully booked in the wind sector until the end of 2026. Thanks to its high load capacity, the LTM 1750-9.1 is also ideal for use in the context of wind power”, says Bracht.

The crane’s first job involved repair work on a wind power plant in Lünen…

The task was to change the main shaft at a hub height of 100m. To do this, the LTM 1750-9.1 was set up in the TYV23EN configuration with a 49.1m telescopic boom, 20m lattice extensions, a 42m luffing jib and 204t of ballast. This enabled the crane to reach a hoist height of 110m. To be able to carry out the repairs on the wind turbine, the 50t rotor first had to be removed. Immediately after the first mission, the crane travelled to Olpe to install wind turbine towers. Job number three already involves work in a refinery.

The key feature of the LTM 1750-9.1 is that it can carry its entire telescopic boom on public roads. When the crane arrives at the site with its telescopic boom and front supports, it can install the rear supports using the optional additional support on the rear of the vehicle without the need for an auxiliary crane. The crane setup functions are powered by the engine in the undercarriage. The power train for the crane superstructure, comprising the engine and the hydraulics as well as an integrated ballasting device, is transported separately to the site and mounted on the crane by the crane itself. “With the hydraulic LIKUFIX quick-change system, it’s a particularly simple and fast process. Our first LTM 1750-9.1 didn’t even have that”, explains Bracht.

Franz Bracht Kran-Vermietung GmbH based in Erwitte has been in business since 1964 and currently employs around 800 people. The company has grown from a sole proprietorship into a group of companies with 16 locations under the motto “Lust auf Last” (translated: “Enthusiasm for heavy loads”). The equipment fleet comprises 1,400 vehicle units with around 300 mobile cranes and a large palette of lattice boom cranes.

The partnership with Liebherr has been in place since 1975. “That’s when we bought our first Liebherr crane, an LG 1130 lattice boom mobile crane. This marked the start of an incredible cooperation across all areas, from sales and service to construction”, says Bracht.
